About Raymond
Raymond's Beginnings
Born in Oakland, CA on February 28th 2003 to Daniella Ruiz and Raul "Roy" Orozco. He spent his first 45 day in the hospital because of health issues. While in the hospital the staff fell in love with him. They would even take him for walks and to staff gatherings, we would come to visit him and have to wait for them to bring him back from his rounds of the hospital. Even back then he was the life of the party.
Raymond's Drive
Throughout his life Raymond was always a people person who believed in family. From childhood he always like to meet people. He would go to a park or a play structure at McDonalds he would always come back to seats and say, “Hey this my new friend”. He never seemed to have an issue making friends. Raymond had 4 older sisters but was raised as an only child since they were raised elsewhere. He always had a sense of family and treated his friends like family and his friends’ families accepted him as family too. His best friend Elijah was like his twin brother and his family accepted him like one of their own as we accepted Elijah as one of our own. Raymond was invited to family parties and vacations and the family would ask where he was when he didn’t go. He was the same with most of his friends.
Castro Valley
When Raymond was 4 the family moved to Castro Valley so his father could be closer to work in Pleasanton. While in Castro Valley he went to Strobridge Elementary School and Bret Harte Middle School. He played baseball in Castro Valley Little League and San Leandro Junior Giants and played basketball in Castro Valley Warriors Crossover Basketball league. While in Castro Valley he met his life long friends. He met his closest friend Elijah Castro in the 2nd grade as well as his friends Nick, Austin and Shane who all were all the start of his extended family. Elijah's family accepted his as one of their own and he spent a lot of time with them and was included in family trips and events. While in Castro Valley he was active in youth groups at Hayward First Presbyterian Church on Grove Way. Raymond and Elijah were involved in a lot of activities there including Crossover Basketball and youth camps and trips.
Hayward/San Lorenzo
Between the 6th and 7th grades the family moved to Hayward then to San Lorenzo. While in San Lorenzo he started attending San Lorenzo High School (SLZ) where he graduated from in 2021. He played on the Baseball, Basketball and Football teams. He was awarded the Football Team MVP for the 2020/2021 season. While at SLZ he and Elijah met many friends among them were Benny, Chris and Sergio.
Light Dimmed
On July 20th 2025 Raymond's light was dimmed.
Raymond was out with his cousin and two female friends going to a night club in San Jose when one of his female friends became involved in a fight. As was his character he instinctively jumped in to try and breakup the fight and protect his friend. Raymond was not one to start a fight but he would not be bullied or allow anyone to be bullied. Witness accounts say that Raymond was throwing people off the pile to try and help his friend. During the mele he was stabbed multiple times and he died of his injuries.
Forever Our Shining Light
Raymond's light has been dimmed but will never go out. As long as there are people who love and remember him still have a piece of him in our hearts his light will never extinguish.
Friends For Life
Raymond built his family from day one at school and many of his friends were with him stuck with him his whole life. The thing that has been a theme with Raymond is that he didn’t make friends he made Family. His family is still strong even now that he is no longer with them.
